Our superb day trip to the the enchanting reservoir and countryside in Guadalest!

Our trip started with a 20 minute cruise along the highway around to the north of Alicante towards Campelllo.
Here we say goodbye to the coast and start to make progress along the mountain roads towards our first stop of the day in the beautiful Town of Aigues for a quick coffee and sweet bun from one of the bakery there! delicious!
The views from the cafe terrace we particularly good so we ended up relaxing and chatting there for a little longer than we planned but it was ok as we had a little way to ride to our next destination! Feeling energised we got back on our bikes to make our way to Guadalest.

We continue on a winding mountain road towards the town of Relleu even this small town is a marvel sitting in between the mountains. We keep going on, through more beautiful little towns and bending roads making our way to the back of Guadalest reservoir.
After we stretched our legs for a took in the fresh air and spectacular views we followed the road to the old motor museum of Guadalest we occasionally pass the museum but hadn't been in there yet so today we decided to pay it a visit and weren't we surprised and happy with our decision.
The museum had about 150 vehicles and was a pleasure to walk around for an hour!

Now for the next cruise through the mountains to Pollop what a beautiful little city with its castle and church at the peak! We took the short ride to the top navigating the twisty streets to have a closer look.

Lunch was incredible as always once you get away from the touristic areas of Spain the food quality becomes more authentic with these local restaurants taking real pride in the delights they serve.
We had paella cooked on the outdoor balcony over looking the City it was worth the trip just for the food and views.

We ended up relaxing here for a good part of the afternoon letting our food go down enjoying good conversation and observing the incredible surroundings.
After our food had settled it was time to get back on the bikes and make our way through some more mountain roads back down to the coast where we picked up the coastal road back to our Gran Alacant base.
In all we spent about 7 hours on the road and as always thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it all though we didn't stray very far from base we encountered so much beauty and superb roads.
